Session 5
Marsh rode south from Thornwatch with Petra Ashford and Harwick Stoll. He was the first of the three to stop by the party on the Old Road, asked how the roads were, and noticed that Iva was a Warden.1 After Stoll and Ashford took Iva to task over her lantern, Marsh told them both that they had been recalled, had orders and had no time to harass off-duty Wardens. His apology for the trouble was meant for everyone except Iva, and he rolled his eyes and rode on.1
Session 6
Marsh rode north past the party at a gallop with Petra Ashford and Harwick Stoll on 27 Coldrise, 1714 PSF.2 The party came on the three of them again that night, in a forest clearing two miles north of the Standing Stone, confronting a man who turned out to be a Sorrowsworn.2
Session 7
Marsh charged to cut the Sorrowsworn off and brought his shield down on the arm pinning Petra Ashford to it so that she could pull free.3 Later, swinging wildly, he drove his burning sword into its side and twisted it. “This is for the captain,” he said.3 Afterwards it was Marsh who recognized the party as the travelers from the road, and asked after the off-duty Warden who had been with them.3 Iva and Hazel read him as out of his depth and waiting on his captain’s orders.3
Asked afterwards what he thought, he made the case for letting the party go. He reminded Ashford that she had been offered an easy life with her family and had chosen this work instead so she could protect people, and said that whatever the party were, they had helped kill the thing. He said the Inquisition keeps Purifiers because Wardens can handle the creatures and a person who turns is something else, and that without the party all three of them would be dead.3
He told Ashford they would have to walk, since the horses had run off, and that he did not want to go deeper into the woods after them.3 The party learned his given name here.3
