Living Everfire

The Living Everfire was a spirit of living fire that took possession of a ruined suit of dwarven armor in Vault 16 of the sealed Underforge Vaults beneath Argentum. Temerity destroyed it on 30 Coldrise, 1714 PSF.¹

Appearance

It rose from the embers pouring out of a hole in the vault floor. They gathered into flame, and the flame into a fluid, undulating mass of fire that lifted a melted suit of dwarven armor, dark metal and gold, off the floor. Tendrils of flame wrapped the pair of dwarven hand axes beside it.¹ Its voice hissed and crackled like a campfire, in a language none of the party knew.¹ With the armor broken, it grew larger and burned hotter.¹

Behavior

It struck its axes together to set them alight and cut in flurries, and the flames on the blades went out when it had finished.¹ It could not be kept down, and when Hazel slammed it into the floor it shot straight back up.¹ When its armor broke, the fire collapsed and burst outward. Unbound, it could hardly be cut, and it whirled over the party as a whirlwind of fire, burning each of them and setting Hazel alight.¹

History

Session 10

The Living Everfire woke when Luma cast identify on one of its axes.¹ It nearly cut Iva down before Hazel, as a dire wolf, bit its armor apart. Temerity finished it with her hammer, and silver light filled the vault as it collapsed, leaving nothing behind.¹

Trivia

• The Living Everfire used the statistics of a fire elemental myrmidon while it wore the armor,² and of a fire elemental once the armor broke.³
