Maren Frostburn is a Dragoon candidate, one of the wetscales in Temerity’s intake, and the youngest of them at 20. She is a human woman, and was a Light Warden of the Order of the Lantern.1

Appearance
Maren stands five foot nine, lean and angular, with straight dark hair cut severely at the jaw and sharp brown eyes that fix on whoever is speaking. Her posture is rigidly correct: shoulders squared, chin level, hands still. She carries a notebook, and writes in it during briefings.

Maren’s mother, also a Light Warden, was trained to fight the Sorrow, and the training was not enough. She died in a Sorrow incursion.1 Introducing herself to the other cadets on 1 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF, Maren said she knew it was not a good sign, or what she was supposed to do, but that she wanted to get back at the thing that took her mother. She thought she was ready.1
