The Shattered Mother is invoked by Hecate, head of the coven that raised Hazel. Hecate sent Hazel off with “may the Shattered Mother watch over you”.1 The Shattered Mother has an emblem, which Hazel knows.2
The Coven and the Moon
The coven worships the moon. Some time after she joined it, Hazel asked Hecate whether anyone else worshipped the moon the way the coven does. Hecate said not really, not any more. Worship, she said, is a complicated concept, but the moon is such a central celestial body that it is often venerated.2 The Sisterhood prays in a way like the dwarves’ prayer stones, but with moonstones.3
Hecate told Hazel of a city beyond the Silver Vale where the moon had been seen as a thing of protection and beauty, in a way it no longer can be within the Vale, because of its association with what shattered it and the world.2

Hecate’s farewell to Hazel at the Sisters' farm on 28 Coldrise, 1714 PSF, called on the Shattered Mother to watch over her.1
Session 11
The crescent moon etched on Dorian Draken's rapier was not the emblem of the Shattered Mother, nor any modern depiction of the moon Hazel knew.2
Session 12
Hazel left a prayer stone in a dwarven shrine in the sealed vaults on the Vigil of Remembrance, 1714 PSF, reading “May the Mother watch over the souls of those who walk these halls”, a simple prayer of the Sisterhood. As it fell, she had a vision of a vast eye staring down at her from a black void.3 Later that day she cast a protective spell on Temerity, whispering “Mother, protect you.”3
Session 13
Hazel recalled the coven’s teaching that the moon had phases before the Starfall, and found a new moon painted in the Vault 20 mural beneath Argentum.4
