Riswynn Deepdraft

Riswynn Deepdraft is a dwarf of Argentum. As a child she lived in Vault 17 of the Underforge Vaults, and left a note under a bed there when the family had to leave.¹ She is the mother of Amber Deepdraft and the owner of the Stacks.²

Biography

Background

Riswynn lived in a family apartment in Vault 17, under the clan mark of the Deepdraft clan, in a child’s room at the back.¹ The apartment still holds clothes, dishware and toys, among them a stocky little doll, balls, and a small stone dragon that looks very much like Bahamut.¹ The family left in a hurry, but not a violent one.¹

Riswynn’s first language was not Common. At the end of the note Riswynn tried to spell a Dwarven name in Common letters, mixing runes and letters, and gave up. “Riswynn” can be read, and the rest is scribbled out.¹

Session 11

Luma found the crumpled note under the bed on the Vigil of Remembrance, 1714 PSF, kept by the dry, still air of the sealed vault.¹ She told Rhysaene that the child had a name a bit like hers. “Huh. I’m flattered,” said Rhysaene.¹ “I’m looking at a note from a child that’s probably dead and that makes me really sad,” said Luma. She passed the note round, copied it, and put it back under the bed.¹ Temerity noted that its writer had been alive when Bahamut was there.¹

Session 16

Amber Deepdraft told the party on 3 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF, that the note was her mother’s.² Riswynn did not leave in the Elder Exodus, and was nine at its final thrust.² She is the half-sister of Rurik Hulduro and of Tordek, who left in the Exodus, and she used to say that Tordek blamed Rurik for what was happening to Argentum.² She owns the Stacks, though few know it, and designed the lock on its hidden stair.²

The note is written in Common, in nearly illegible handwriting:¹

i kan not beeleev it. thay r makeing us leev. pa sez that it wil bee gud for us. ma sez wee wil meet lots a new frens on the up side.
