The Bureau of Infrastructure & Mapping is a civic institution of Argentum that maps the city. It counts loosely as part of the archivists’ profession.1 Its offices stand in a cluster of archival buildings near the Cathedral of the Silver Flame in the Lantern Wards, across the street from the Silver Archives in the southeast corner of the ward.12

Luma works there as a civil drafter, updating the city plans for the Archivists.3 Her superior is Kessa Tumblebrim.1

Activities

The Bureau takes surveying requests from other institutions, and its surveyors normally work without security.1 When a job is done, the surveyor submits a report and maps.1

History

Session 9

A work order from the Vaultsmiths reached the Bureau on 29 Coldrise, 1714 PSF, asking for Luma by name to survey two sections of the sealed vaults beneath the city. It was the first time the Bureau had been given work involving the sealed vaults, and it set aside funds for Luma to hire security.1

Session 11

Work order 1247 took Luma into the vaults beneath the Silver Archives on the Vigil of Remembrance, 1714 PSF. At the Archives she introduced herself as a cartographer on behalf of the Bureau.2

Session 13

Luma kept the Vault 20 mural and the forgemasters' tomb out of her report to the Bureau, and meant to report the Syndicate’s tunnel only as a secret door she had found and marked.4

Session 14

Luma wrote up her survey at the Bureau on 1 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF, and handed it in by the end of the day. Kessa Tumblebrim was to review it and pass it to the Vaultsmiths.5 In it Luma mapped the vaults and noted hazards, unmarked passages and sealed doors, and left out everything that contradicted the dates.5

Session 15

Luma spent about an hour at the Bureau on 2 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF. Nothing was amiss, no new work was waiting, and she left a note saying she was working from home.6 Most of her time there goes to redrawing older, lower-quality maps.6

Session 16

Vaestra Wenn and Thaddeus Marwin came to the Bureau on behalf of the church on 3 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF, with the Censor Marigold at the door, and had Kessa Tumblebrim fire Luma.7 The building next door is the Lexicon of Civil Notaries.7 A shop near the Bureau sells writing supplies, books and journals.7
