The Guild of Sparks is a guild of Argentum whose design of lock and key secures the sealed vaults beneath the city.1

Activities

The Guild’s vault keys are cross-shaped, and turning one moves four lock tumblers at once.1 The maintenance hatch key Luma carried before was of the same design.1 The lock on the old cast-iron door to Vaults 13 to 16 in the Underforge Vaults is of Guild design and clearly newer than the door.1

Members of the Guild work alongside the Vaultsmiths in the Valve Halls.1 The Guild probably designs the masks the Vaultsmiths keep against bad air.1

History

Session 9

Kessa Tumblebrim gave Luma two Guild of Sparks keys to the sealed vaults for her survey, and on 30 Coldrise, 1714 PSF, Luma used one to open the door to Vault 13.1

Session 11

Luma resealed the foundry door on 30 Coldrise, 1714 PSF. A lever outside rolls the door back into place, and the four prongs of the key turn four locks at once.2 The next day the doors to Vaults 17 and 18 beneath the Silver Archives opened to the same kind of key. The door to Vault 17 is round and made entirely of modern steelwork, and the door to Vault 18 is cast iron with a steel lock set into it.2

Session 13

The iron double door at the far end of Vault 20 had no Guild lock.3 The small doors of the Fardrimm Gate take a four-pronged key of a different layout, original to the adamantine rather than grafted on like the Guild’s locks on the vault doors.3

Session 14

The Guild of Sparks was named in Luma’s work order, but according to Dalric Ironmark had little to do with it.4
